World renowned author Paulo Coelho first heard about Books Matter from our Twitter account. We were honoured when he supporteded a fundraiser we had in December of 2014. Months later, we were super excited when Paulo and his publisher, HarperCollins, were generous enough to donate 1,000 copies of several of his titles for us to send to Ghana, West Africa.
Upon arriving in Ghana, some of the books made their way, by motorbike, to a junior high school in the Volta Region, where copies were given to some of the excited students. For many, this is the only book they own. Also, we've sent copies of Mr. Coelho's books to school libraries throughout Ghana where we have made previous donations. Paulo knows that books can make a huge difference in people's lives. Below right, students at Keta's municipal library discuss some of the books at a weekly meeting, thanks to librarian Victor Dela Odamson.
